Puppy Watching from Home Security Cameras

A dog is a man’s best friend. They are loyal, they are your walking buddy, playful, and protective. A dog loving couple was excited to move into their new home with a big yard for their two new English setter puppies. The couple was curious about the puppy adventures their dogs would get into while they were away at work. They were so curious that the installed a home security camera so they could watch the English setter puppies. They would watch the puppies from their computers at work and see what they were up to during the day. However, one day while watching the puppies from work, they were viewing their home being broken into by two burglars.

The home security camera captured the entire break in. The home owner acted quickly and called police to notify them of the break in, and police responded within minutes of the call. He continued to watch the burglars break into his home and steal from him and his wife. One man broke the front window and climbed into the home where he proceeded to unlock the front door for his accomplice. One of the dogs was barking at the thieves while the other dog appeared to be hiding somewhere. The two thieves stole a lot of electrical equipment, and luckily for the home owners, they didn’t see the security camera. By the time the police had arrived at the couple’s home, the thieves had already fled from the crime scene. The police were unable to catch the thieves during the break in but are confident that the men will be caught and charged with theft in the near future. The home security camera recorded clear images of the thieves, their actions, and what they stole from the home. The images are very clear of their faces and the home owners and police are hopeful that someone will recognize the men and turn them in.

The couple had originally bought the security camera as a fun way to watch their puppies during the day. They never expected for their home to be broken into and vandalized, but they are glad they had the cameras to record evidence of the crime. The two puppies can’t give evidence or an account of the break in to police, but luckily the cameras captured clear images to be used as evidence. The home owners have a new appreciation for home security cameras and understand their importance for added security, not just entertainment.

Police Monitoring Home Security Cameras

In Palo Alto, Ca, police are offering residents what may seem to be the most ideal level of home security. The Palo Alto police department is allowing home owners with security cameras to link their monitors to the department’s internet monitoring system. The police officers would have a virtual response to an alarm, robbery, break in, or violent incident instead of waiting for a phone call from the resident. What makes this so unique is that while a home owner is away on work or vacation; their house can be monitored by a police officer 24 hours a day and seven days a week. This is great for people who can’t view their security camera image recordings while at work, or while away on vacation on a remote island or location without internet access. Also, a home owner can’t always be monitoring their camera, but a police station could. This would alleviate the amount of stress for a homeowner who was worried about the safety of their house and loved ones.

There will not be a separate officer on duty to view home security cameras. The video footage would be monitored alongside the public cameras set up around town. In addition, the home owner would have to purchase some type of home alarm system because they won’t monitor the footage unless an alarm has gone off. The police department offered this service as a result from the public pleading for adding security. Some residents are concerned about their privacy being invaded. However, this is an opt-in program. If you have a home security camera, you don’t have to be a part of the police department’s system. If you choose to have the extra security provided from the police, there is a fee to join their internet monitoring system. Besides having already purchased a camera, there is a sign up fee and an annual fee.

A lot of residents in this area already own security cameras. It is an affluent area with homes valued at or around $4 million. Home break in alarms go off regularly, and as much as 15 times a day for the area. The police department is offering the service to home owners, but they are strongly encouraging the school district to sign up for the monitoring service. The high school is frequently being vandalized. The school district has expressed concerns of their students’ privacy.

If a home owner decides they want the extra security from the police they will have to consider some posing questions first. Will they be willing to give up some of their privacy? Is the extra cost in their budget and do they feel it’s worth the price? Do they trust that only the police department will view the security footage?

Car Accidents Caught on Surveillance

A hit and run car accident occurred in Florida last week. A black truck ran a red light and slammed into a car with three passengers. Some walked away with cuts and bruises, but another passenger in the car was left at the scene in critical condition. No one knows what happened to the person driving the truck because he fled from the scene. Other cars drove by the accident and did not render any aid. You may be wondering how Florida police know all of these details if nobody stopped to give an account of the accident. This horrible hit and run car accident was caught and recorded on a security camera at the corner gas station.

The security camera captured the entire accident. Unfortunately, the way the camera was angled did not provide a picture of the truck’s license plate. Police do know, however, from the video surveillance tape the make, model, and color of the truck. The video has been shown on the news nationwide in hopes of catching the driver and prosecuting him. Florida police are hoping that someone watching the news that saw the video tape will come forward and offer information. The chances of catching the driver in this hit and run accident are higher than most because of the security camera that captured and recorded the footage.

In a different event, a man was injured after being hit by a driver who also fled from the scene. This accident happened in a neighborhood and, a family’s home security camera caught the hit and run. A man walking down the street was hit by a car. His leg was broken from the impact of the car hitting him. He was very lucky though because he only suffered a broken leg and lived through the accident. In this case, police were also lucky to have clear evidence from the family’s security camera.

These are other examples of how great security cameras are in recording evidence. Unfortunately, these examples are tragic but police are hopeful the tapes will help in catching the hit and run driver and provide enough justice for the man who was hit by a car. Security cameras provide clear pictures and can make a huge difference in whether or not someone is prosecuted after committing a crime. They are more reliable than an eye witness accounts especially in the case of a hit and run accident because someone might not know the make or model of the vehicles involved. It can also be hard to remember specific details in an event.

Security Cameras in Schools

School districts throughout the country are updating their standards and policies for safety. It is becoming the norm for districts to install security cameras at all levels of their campuses; elementary, middle, and high school. The cameras are used as an extra means of security and monitoring the campus. School districts are cracking down on bullying, theft, violence, vandalizing, and school shootings. Not only do the security cameras act as a deterrent against students committing crimes, but they also record evidence in the event that a crime was committed.

Last year in Louisiana, St. Tammany Parish School Board, planned to have security cameras as a part of their budget. The school district voted on whether or not to have the cameras installed on their school’s campuses. The vote was unanimous, and both school officials and parents were enthusiastic about the district taking a step to help improve and deter school violence. Each campus had anywhere from five to 25 security cameras installed throughout the elementary, secondary, and high schools. Some principals even used private school funds, separate from the district budget, to purchase more cameras for their campus.

Recently, there was an incident at one of the schools in the St. Tammany Parish School District. At Fontainebleau High School, there was a fight that erupted in the school’s hallway. Two girls were shoving and pushing each other after one of the girls came at the other girl with a curling iron. A crowd of bystanders began to cheer on the fighting girls and created quite a scene in the hallway. While other students were encouraging the violence, some stepped in to try to stop the fight. The principal was able to view the videotape the security camera had recorded and was able to make a decision on who started the pushing and shoving, who cheered on the violence, and who the heroic students were who tried to stop the fight. Not only are bad students caught on camera, but the school can also reward good students who exemplify good behavior.

Cameras in schools make staff, faculty, students, and parents feel safer while class is in session. Having the security cameras also allow school officials to make quick, concise, and authoritative decisions when dealing with troublemakers. Before, if an incident such as bullying or theft occurred on a school campus, it would take days to investigate what had happened and who was involved. School violence will become less frequent with the use of security cameras.

Family installs security camera when suspicious of cleaners

A parent can’t help feeling helpless when their children are sick. What would you do if your children were getting sick every day? How would that make you feel? One woman took matters into her own hands after herself, husband, and two children were repeatedly getting sick with stomach problems. She had employees, such as cleaning people, throughout her home for a year and started to wonder if her cleaning lady was making their family sick. Upon mother’s intuition she had home security cameras installed throughout their home. What she found on the camera’s recordings were shocking.

The cleaner hadn’t been following sanitary cleaning procedures as laid out in the Health and Safety in Employment Act (1992). The cleaner was using the children’s bath towels as cleaning materials, and would wipe down toilets, counters and bath tubs. After cleaning with the bath towels, the cleaner would neatly hang up the towels as if they had never been used. The children would then be contaminated with cleaning supplies and germs from the towels, and suffered vomiting and diarrhea. The family sent the videotape to the Labor Department which in turn released the tape to the regional public health service. A letter was sent to the owner of the cleaning company reminding him of his duties and responsibilities of the Health and Safety Act.

On a different occasion, another family had also installed home security cameras after they were suspicious of their cleaners. Valuables had started to disappear from their home after they employed a cleaning company. The security cameras caught the cleaners stealing from them. They even took money from the mom’s purse and the father’s wallet. The family gave the tape to the police department so they could press charges against the cleaning company. Upon further observation of the tapes, the police found that the cleaners were also using bath towels to clean. The family was horrified.

It is a good idea to install some type of security camera in your home if you employ a company to clean your house or even watch your children. A wireless security camera is a great choice because it can be easy to hide, easy to install because there are no wires, and they are portable. For example, on days the cleaners come to your home you could put the security camera inside the bathrooms or the kitchen. On days you have a nanny watching your children you could move the security camera to the children’s bedrooms or the living room. You can never be too cautious when you employ a company to have help in your home.

Who uses security cameras?

Having home security is a necessity for you and your loved one’s safety. The advantages of owning a security camera outweigh any possible threats or danger to your home. Home security cameras are easy to use and are accessible to anyone and everyone. A wireless security camera is the easiest to install because there aren’t any wires that need to be connected or run through your home to the receiver, and their portability makes them easy to transfer and set up in different locations. Because of their easy instillation, low prices, portability, and the many advantages for safety; a wireless security camera can be used by anyone. They can be used by grandparents, young families, schools, restaurants, locations throughout the city, and apartment complexes.

A 94 year old woman installed a home security camera after she was robbed. She had it installed so that she could see who was at her front door on her home television set. The men who robbed her claimed to be employees of a home service company and were offering their services. The men came inside her home to write down the name and number of the company and stole money out of her purse. This shocking story was first covered in the Derry Journal. If she had the camera previously installed, she could have seen that the men didn’t have any type of uniform or badges on. Also, images from a home security camera could have provided the police evidence of who to arrest.

Due to the rise in crime and school violence, unfortunately, more and more schools are using security cameras throughout the campus. The school security cameras are installed to catch bullying, vandalizing, and violence. They are used in addition to having security guards and teachers monitoring the hallways. It is an extra means for protection, and is not used as the only protective precaution. Schools are also targeted for robbery because of the large number of computers and televisions throughout a campus. Having the security cameras deters criminals from breaking into a school.

In addition to homeowners and schools using security cameras, they are also frequently seen in restaurants. They are used in restaurants for a number of reasons, but most importantly to deter employees and patrons from stealing. Food, silverware, linens, supplies, and decorations go missing from restaurants, and all can be expensive to replace. A security camera is like having an extra set of eyes for the managers and owners of a restaurant. It is also a safety precaution for restaurants in the event of a guest getting hurt. The security cameras can provide evidence of foul play or an accident in case charges are brought against them.

As you can see, security cameras are very useful and are easy to use. The low cost of a security camera make them accessible to a lot of different people and businesses.

Home Security History

Taking a look back in time, the need to protect one’s home has been around for centuries. It is instinctual to protect your home and your loved ones. Home security has evolved over time with new technology and innovations. We have come a long way from medieval times when home security consisted of guards, moats, and flaming bow and arrows. What was once a luxury and an expensive notion for kings and wealthy home owners, home security has become affordable and obtainable for everyone. We can all be kings of our own castles.

During the 1980s, companies began to introduce the home alarm system. The alarm system consists of door sensors and loud, alarming sirens to ward off unwanted houseguests. The home alarm system could only be purchased through a provider and worked as a two-way system. The alarm company would notify the police if the alarm wasn’t turned off, and the service had to be purchased as an ongoing monthly service. As time went on and technology progressed, home security became more of a hands-on approach.

More recently, as in the 2000s, homeowners could now purchase and install their own video surveillance video security. Home security cameras became more readily available for homeowners and not just business owners. After purchasing a security camera, the homeowner could then view the images on a television, computer, or other type of receiver. The need for a monthly service or “watchdog” wasn’t needed.

Video surveillance has been around since the 1950s, but was only used by police to view areas with high crime rates. During the 1960s and 1970s, businesses started to install their own security devices. This type of security became quite popular during the 1970s after videocassettes were created because the security cameras could now record images. The general population, not just police and big business owners, could start to see the advantages of video surveillance because it provided undeniable evidence in the event of a robbery, home invasion, or accident. Video surveillance started to appear in more public places such as ATMs, sporting events, restaurants, parking lots, and other similar locations.

Since the 1990s, security cameras have improved with smaller sizes, clearer images, and easier ways to record. Home security cameras can now be purchased with night view, infrared, and even wireless security cameras are available. Home security cameras have become popular for working parents to purchase because the security cameras can be hidden though out the house to watch nannies taking care of their children. Nanny cams are installed in teddy bears and other hidden places throughout the home. With the use of wireless security cameras, the children’s parents could view the recorded images from a cell phone or office computer.

Home security has become more affordable, obtainable, and easy to use.

Security Cameras Made Famous in Hollywood

What do action, adventure, drama, suspense, and security cameras all have in common? They can make a Hollywood movie go from one thumb up to two thumbs up in the ratings. Not only do they provide protection and security to a home, but they make a Hollywood movie great! Two movies that you should definitely see, if you haven’t already, are Enemy of the State and Eagle Eye.

Enemy of the State was released in 2008 and, starred actor Will Smith. The opening scenes of the movie reveal a murder of Congressman, Phillip Hammerson. He was murdered by politician Thomas Reynolds after he declined to pass a new satellite video surveillance program. Unfortunately for Reynolds, the murder was caught on tape. The national security agency (NSA) found out about the tape and was after the man who had it. Will Smith’s character, Robert Clayton Dean, was at the wrong place at the wrong time and became the unfortunate owner of the tape without even knowing it. The guy who had originally had the tape slipped it into Dean’s pocket and was killed shortly thereafter. The rest of the movie is about Dean getting his life back on track after losing his wife and job all as a result of having the tape. Dean met a man who could help him; a surveillance expert who was previously a government operative. The NSA chased Dean and watched him vehemently through security cameras. The wireless security cameras play a huge role in this film, and without their use the spy film wouldn’t have had the same effect. It is a run, chase, and catch film all centered on a tape from an innocent man’s camera.

Recently, in 2008, Eagle Eye was released starring Shia LaBeouf and Michelle Monaghan. Two strangers, Jerry Shaw and Rachel Holloman, were forced together in a mysterious situation after a phone call from a woman they had never met. The two are thrown into life threatening situations, and the woman threatens to ruin their lives and kill their loved ones if they don’t carry out certain tasks. Using wireless security cameras and other new technologies, their actions and lives are recorded, controlled, and tracked. To discover who the woman is and why they were picked out, the two strangers have to come together and overcome the mysterious situation. Like Enemy of the State, this movie wouldn’t have had the same effect without the use of wireless security cameras. They were being watched so closely and thoroughly, even being monitored in convenient stores and street allies. Their every move wouldn’t have been seen unless there were security cameras in the movie.

Cost Effective Protection

You can’t put a price on having security for you and your loved ones. Or can you? What is the price you would be willing to pay to provide added security to your home? For those that feel personal protection is necessary, such as movie stars or prominent public figures, having a personal bodyguard can cost up to $125 an hour. That will cost around $3,000 for a single day of protection; $90,000 a month; and $1,080,000 a year. While most of us don’t live our lives in the spotlight or need that type of protection, resorting to a more traditional security device is substantial.

Home alarm systems offer some security. They inform you when there is a break in to your home and the provider calls the police to your house when the system hasn’t been deactivated by the owner. Having an alarm system includes an alarm panel, a motion detector, window sensors, and a sign. However, owning a home alarm system is also costly and doesn’t have any type of image recording. Alarm systems on your home include a one-time installation fee as well as monthly service fees. Keep in mind the one time installation fee is for every time the alarm is installed, so moving into a new house will cost you if you want to keep the alarm system. The cost of owning an alarm system can be anywhere from $35 to $40 a month. That translates to $10 to $15 a day and up to $450 a year. Why pay more when you could be paying less?

Having a home security device offers more protection and is by far less expensive than a personal bodyguard or home alarm system. Looking at the cost of wireless security cameras, they can range from $50 to $300 depending on the type of security camera purchased. There isn’t a monthly fee when using a home security camera. The only additional fee accompanied with the purchase is making the choice to also purchase a transmitter and receiver. This is also a one-time purchase. When you look at the breakdown of the cost of a wireless security camera, the savings are astronomical. If you choose to purchase a $50 camera, the cost per day over a year would amount to $0.13 a day. And remember this is only for one year because the purchase doesn’t include any monthly fees or activation fees. If for example, the most expensive wireless security camera is $300, the cost per day over a year would be $0.82.

The savings of owning a wireless security camera in comparison to owning a home alarm system will save you anywhere from $9.87 to $9.18 a day for a year. In addition to saving money, the security provided by a home security camera is incomparable to a home alarm system. Having a wireless security camera will provide clear images to the police in the event of a home invasion or robbery. Having these images makes a difference when catching a criminal because it is hard evidence that can’t be denied.

Why Go Wireless?

Owning a home security camera is cost effective and offers a lot of security to a home. You can never be too cautious when protecting your home or your loved ones. Owning a home security camera is a one-time investment that will last you a lifetime unlike home alarm systems that have monthly fees. In addition to owning the wireless security camera, you will also need to purchase transmitter and receiver to receive the signal. It is a three component operation. Security cameras have clear pictures, they deter criminals from vandalizing property and committing crimes, and most importantly they offer added protection and a better sense of security to a home owner.

There are different types of home security cameras that are available to be purchased and installed in and around your home such as dummy cameras, infrared cameras, or traditional security cameras. Owning a home security camera has many advantages but the camera that is the most beneficial for a home owner is the wireless security camera.

The most advantageous aspect of the wireless security camera is that they are easy to be installed. They don’t have cables that need to be connected or wired to. Because they don’t have cables connected to a home or computer, they are portable. You can move the camera where you want it and when you need it moved. For example, if you are at work during the day you can set the camera to view the inside of your home, and then when you get home for the evening you can set it to view the outside of your home. Also, if you decide to purchase a new home or want to relocate, you can take the wireless security camera with you. Having a wireless security camera is a one time, life-long purchase as mentioned before.

Wireless security cameras images’ can be viewed from your cell phone, laptop, or home computer. This is great because you can see the live feed of the camera protecting your home or wherever location the camera is set. Wireless security cameras provide clear images and have a further range than most other home security cameras. A wireless camera can transmit up to 700 feet. More specifically, a wireless security camera can view up to a 6,000 square foot home.

A wireless security camera is cost effective, takes up minimal amounts of space, and offers protection in addition to having clear concise images.

Advantages of Home Security Cameras

Crime, robbery, and violence are everyday struggles that the world faces. Unfortunately, the perpetrators who steal, hurt, and vandalize can be lurking in our backyards and businesses. There are many advantages of owning a home security camera that can deter a criminal from targeting your home. This is also true for business owners. Owning video surveillance devices such as a wireless security camera in your business can prevent employees from stealing, thieves from robbing, and the business owner can see what happens while they are out of the office, restaurant, or store. A home owner can view their children being taken care of with nanny cams or monitor that their home is safe and criminal free while they are away at work or while on vacation. The advantages of owning a home security camera far outweigh the stress you may endure from the fear of being robbed, vandalized, or physically hurt by a criminal.

If you are targeted by a criminal, the security camera will provide clear and accurate images to detail the event. These images aid the police in finding the perpetrators which in turn fight to get criminals off the streets and into jail, so they can’t target another innocent home or business owner. One cannot argue with the detailed and accurate evidence documenting if a crime occurred.

While having a home security camera offers images of a possible crime to occur, they also deter the crime from ever happening. Studies have proven that someone is less likely to commit a crime if they know they are being watched. This is a great deterrence for business owners because their employees will not steal or vandalize company property for fear of being caught and terminated.

By having crime deterred, there is a sense of security that is offered from installing a wireless security camera at your home or business. Places such as shopping malls, stores, restaurants, homes, schools, and daycares use video surveillance. Parents can view a nanny watching their children, school teachers can feel safe knowing the school is being watched, store owners feel secure knowing that if someone steals from their store there will be evidence to catch the criminals. We shouldn’t have to live in fear knowing that our homes or businesses can be broken into at any time. Cameras deter criminals and having a sense of security can make life less stressful.

There are different types of security cameras available to best fit the needs of the purchaser. Each camera has its own advantages. For example, there are wireless security cameras, dummy cameras, and infrared cameras just to name a few. Any camera that you purchase will prove to be advantageous to your life as a home owner, business owner, and/or employee.

Wireless Security Camera Capture Home Invasion

Recently in Jacksonville, Florida a prominent couple who owned a chiropractic practice and who advertised their practice on billboards, which included their pictures, were targeted for a home invasion by three men. Fortunately for this family, they had the foresight to install wireless security cameras outside of their home. These men knew their names and faces due to the outdoor billboard advertising of the family business. Presumptively, the criminals were able to ascertain the address of this family due to the public information available on the billboards.

The three men waited for the mother to arrive home after work. They watched her unlock the front door and enter the home, after which they followed her inside. All of this was captured by the wireless security cameras. Inside of the home, the three year old daughter and her grandmother were waiting for mom to come home.
The three criminals attacked the mother and held the three year old daughter at gunpoint. The family was extorted and asked for money. After the men received money and valuables, they left. The mother was left bleeding; the child and grandmother were left traumatized.

This home invasion was captured on wireless security cameras and was featured on the Dr. Phil show in February of 2009. The experience was life changing and traumatic for the entire family, however on a more positive note, the mother’s stress went away quickly. The intruders were captured within days. The fast arrest and prosecution was due to the wireless security cameras installed at the home. It provided the family and the police with clear images of the three intruders. If the video hadn’t recorded the men’s faces, they may have never been identified and arrested.

Calls poured in immediately to crime stoppers after the images were shown on the local news. The home security camera had been installed above the front door outside their home. The traumatized family didn’t have to rely on their memory to describe what the perpetrators looked like; the home security camera videotaped who the men were.

Video surveillance is very affordable and the benefits of the level of security are immeasurable. A quality security camera system ranges in cost from $59.00 to $300.00. There are many different types of cameras that are available to be purchased. There are: wireless security cameras, weatherproof infrared security cameras, hidden cameras, dome cameras, pan tilt zoom cameras, fake security cameras, and traditional CCTV security cameras just to name a few. The large variety of home security cameras allows you to choose the camera that will be the most beneficial for the security you are seeking. All of these provide clear, concise, accurate images.

While the initial investment might seem costly to a family struggling in a tough economy, the peace of mind offered to you and your loved ones, and the onetime cost of the security cameras is nominal. Unlike traditional alarm systems, there are no recurring fees for the monitoring of the security cameras. They are installed and hooked up to a digital video recorder (DVR), which can later be used to identify any incidents which may occur. Also, there are warranties for the cameras and you will be able to use the home security cameras for a long time. Ordering the cameras is easy. They can be ordered by phone, mail, online, and by fax.
